The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County hosted the 17th Annual DEX Imaging “Ranch Roam” event on March 23 at “Alligator” Ron Bergeron’s Green Glades Ranch in Weston celebrating a unique venture into the real Wild West of Broward County. The event raised $400,000 for the Clubs.

Guests enjoyed a unique wild and woolly western experience on a real working ranch featuring gourmet food, an “Otter” John Wildlife Experience, old west casino, live and silent auctions, hayrides, western photos, gunfights, line dancing and clogging demonstrations, and old west fortune tellers. The evening’s festivities also included a special performance by up-and-coming country artist Amber Leigh and professional gator wrestling by Animal Planet’s own “Gator Boys.”

ACTOR VAL KILMER HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL CELEBRITY CRUISE BENEFITING THE BOUGAINVILLA HOUSE

Cruise raised more than $30,000 for the newly designed 30,000 sq. ft., 40-room facility which will serve as a non-profit shelter and safe haven for the treatment and recovery of substance abuse in adolescents

FORT lauderdale, FL (December 21, 2012) – Actor Val Kilmer hosted an exclusive kick-off celebration for The Bougainvilla House on November 14 which raised more than $30,000 for the newly designed 30,000 sq. ft., 40-room residential facility for the intervention and treatment of substance abuse in adolescents. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and gourmet dinner aboard the luxurious 170-ft. “Lady Windridge” yacht charter which was graciously donated by Kathleen Windridge, owner of Windridge Yacht Charters.

The Bougainvilla House amended its mission to provide care to adolescents suffering from addiction. President and CEO Janet Davis stated, “Because of the tremendous need for a residential facility to treat the increasing number of adolescents suffering from addiction in our community, we realized that The Bougainvilla House would be the perfect place to provide the specialized treatment programs necessary for a successful recovery from addiction.”

The non-profit organization provides a safe haven with a professional staff dedicated to the successful recovery of every guest/patient. The treatment programs are unique in their policy to continue treatment of adolescents who temporarily “slide off” the program.  Instead of terminating their treatment, The Bougainvilla House will re-assess and re-adjust the plan to assure their successful recovery.

Understanding that substance abuse affects the entire family, the relaxed atmosphere of the individual, family and group counseling rooms in The Family Center encourages communication, a vital part of treatment and recovery. The Bougainvilla House and The Family Center are part of Bougainvillage, a charming community of buildings and cottages that offer a comprehensive array of substance abuse and mental health services.

Mr. Kilmer is recognized as being one of the greatest leading actors of his time with many diverse roles such as Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s The Doors, Doc Holliday in Tombstone and Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever. He became popular in the mid-1980s after appearing in the cult classic Real Genius and the blockbuster action films Top Gun and Willow. He is presently working on his one-man show Citizen Twain inspired from the work on his film project Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy. He will tour Citizen Twain around the country in 2013.

Producer of groundbreaking Mummies of the World exhibition and the Witte Museum make donation to support the development of San Antonio youth

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 22, 2012) – The Witte Museum and American Exhibitions, Inc., producer of the groundbreaking Mummies of the World exhibition, made a charitable donation of $10,000 in tickets to the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio during a special presentation on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Witte Museum.

 

Marise McDermott, president and CEO of the Witte Museum presented the tickets to Angie Mock, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio joined by the organization’s youth members to share in the occasion.

 

“The Boys & Girls Clubs and the thousands of youth we serve are incredibly excited about this opportunity,” said Angie Mock, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio. “Our focus on Academic Success is achieved through great programs and great partnership such as this one.”

Mummies of the World is the largest exhibition of mummies and related artifacts ever assembled, featuring an astounding collection of 150 specimens and objects including real human and animal mummies, and related artifacts from South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Ancient Egypt. The acclaimed traveling exhibition opened at the Witte Museum on September 29, 2012 to rave reviews, and is currently on display in San Antonio through January 27, 2012.

FORT lauderdale, FL (October 17, 2012) – Actor Val Kilmer will host an exclusive fundraiser for The Bougainvilla House, a newly designed 30,000 sq. ft., 40-room residential facility for the intervention and treatment of substance abuse in adolescents, on November 14 from 6-10 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy a cocktail hour from 6-7 p.m. followed by a gourmet dinner aboard the luxurious 170-ft. Lady Windridge yacht charter which has been graciously donated by Kathleen Windridge, owner of Windridge Yacht Charters.

Benefiting Kids in Distress (KID) of Broward & Palm Beach Counties

 

BOCA RATON, FL – Cutler Altier of Altier Jewelers in Boca Raton, Florida recently participated in the first annual “Cooking with Kids” event, which engaged more than 25 area business leaders and CEOs in an afternoon of fun with the children of Kids in Distress (KID) of Broward and Palm Beach counties. The event paired children with community business leaders to create an entrée and dessert, and enjoy the fruits of their labor over a one-on-one lunch where participating CEOs shared their real life recipes for success with the children. Each CEO participant pledged to sponsor a child for one year at KID camp, which provides enrichment activities for at-risk children ages 5 through 15 to help them improve their social skills, physical development, nutritional health, and academic and creative abilities. The event was hosted on June 14, 2012 at Office Depot on Military Trail in Boca Raton.
